Kilimanjaro Slope Trail Running Tour from: US$ 1440 p/p

DAY 1: MBAHE VILLAGE – KILIMANJARO
Arrival and transfer to Mbahe Village farm cottages at 1900m on the slopes of Kilimanjaro.

DAY 2: MBAHE VILLAGE  TO KIDIA
On our first day hiking, the path is long but easy, perfect for a start and letting us enjoy the landscape. We reach several superb viewpoints overlooking Moshi Town and up toward the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, which emerges as we leave Mbahe Village.

DAY 3: KIDIA TO TEMA
The trail proceeds through more colorful mountain villages, past coffee and maize farms and rivers where you can refresh in the cool and crystal clear water. We pass Kidia village, the site of the first European settlement in the Kilimanjaro region.

DAY 4: TEMA TO WONDO
This hiking day pass through a dramatic landscape of high ridges and deep valleys, all covered by tropical rain forest, where we may spot blue monkeys hanging in the trees.  At the end of the day, we will inhale the sweet smell of the eucalyptus trees that create a natural border between the National Park and villages.

DAY 5: WONDO TO MWEKA
Today we alternate passing through villages and back into the forest, crossing many rivers on wooden bridges or jumping from rock to rock. We encounter the traditional irrigation channels, used by local farmers for more than 100 years to grow coffee, bananas and many other fruits and vegetables.

DAY 6:  WEST KILIMANJARO
Hop in the vehicle for transfer to Simba Farm located in the West Kilimanjaro region. Relax, explore the farm and surrounding footpaths, and enjoy the spectacular sunset behind Mount Meru to which we will head tomorrow.

DAY 7: WEST KILIMANJARO TO LUKANI
Today is the longest stage. We begin with a long ascent into the forest reserve where active timber harvesting continues, then exit to a hot and dry lowland stretch, and finally return to the verdant southern slopes of Kilimanjaro.

DAY 8: LUKANI TO MWEKA
Today we encounter our steepest valleys and ridges above a densely settled area of smallholder Arabica coffee farms that use centuries-old irrigation canals dug along the mountainside. Each village has its own primary school, each with its own distinctive uniform color for the students.

DAY 9: MWEKA TO KIDIA
Today we are running back to the site of the first European settlement in the Kilimanjaro region. The original church and mission station are still intact. Each mountain ridge in this area is either predominantly Lutheran or Catholic, depending on the original missionary group operating there. Another day of extreme elevation changes.

DAY 10: KIDIA TO MBAHE
Our final day brings even more spectacular views and a joyous return to Mbahe Village, where we started 7 days ago. Congratulations, you ran around the Roof of Africa! Celebrate with a leap into the river, hot shower, cold beer . . . or all three!

DAY 11:  Departure day
Transfer to the airport at any  time convenient for you to take your flight back home.
